JAMMU, Feb 23: Jal Shakti (PHE) Department organized an interative meet with the prominent contractors where besides `Jal Jeevan Mission’ flagship programme, issues of constructions and new norms were discussed.
The meeting was chaired by Commissioner/ Secretary, Jal Shakti Department, M Raju. Chief Engineers, PHE, I&FC and senior officers of the Department also participated in the meeting. The main objective of the meet was infact to give a stimulus to `Jal Jeevan Mission’, which envisages ” Har Ghar Nal Mein Jal” and which is currently under implementation through Jal Shakti Department across the J&K UT with Samba, Reasi and Poonch districts in Jammu province being taken up under execution in the first phase.
While speaking on the occasion, Commissioner/ Secretary, informed that the meet had been organized to ensure healthy / competitive tendering by the contractors fraternity and also to achieve the desired outcome within the specified timeframe of Jal Jeevan Mission.
The contractors/ representatives while appreciating the move of the Jal Shakti Department to organize this meet, also put up their view point regarding difficulties, they were facing while participating in the tender process. They also sought modifications/ clarifications, regarding tendering and implementation conditions so as to ensure healthy participation.
After the deliberations, Chief Engineer PHE/ Jal Shakti Jammu assured the participants that the issues raised by them had been taken note of and would be further deliberated upon by the Jal Shakti Department and maximum efforts would be made to ease out the conditions, where ever possible within the JJM framework. He hoped that JJM would meet its target of 2022 as fixed by the Govt of India.
