Colleges to remain closed, JU exams postponed

JAMMU, Feb 24: All colleges in Jammu district will remain closed tomorrow while authorities have completely lifted curfew in the City.
District Magistrate Jammu, Ramesh Kumar told the Excelsior that colleges will remain closed tomorrow as a precautionary measure while schools will continue to function as usual.
He said night curfew has been completely lifted from the entire City.
While there was no official word, sources said the colleges will remain closed in anticipation of trouble in the wake of martyrdom of DySP Aman Thakur in an encounter with the militants in Kulgam district of Kashmir.
Colleges were closed since February 15 in Jammu district in the wake of bandh called following martyrdom of 44 CRPF jawans in Pulwama, which was followed by curfew.
Meanwhile, Jammu University has also notified that all the examinations to be conducted on February 25 have been postponed due to unavoidable circumstances. Fresh dates shall be notified later. The teaching will also remain suspended. However, the offices of the University of Jammu shall remain functional as usual tomorrow.
