College Teachers discuss issues with Samoon

RAMNAGAR, Feb 2: College Teachers Association,  led by CTA president Prof  D S  Manhas held a meeting with Principal Secretary Higher Education,  Dr Asgar Hassan Samoon, to discuss  various issues concerning the college fraternity.
The Association stated that the orders of placement/promotion in different AGPs have  not been issued as yet and the same be expedited so that the teachers are placed in next Grade as and when due to them.
The Association also demanded that action may be initiated for the implementation of the scheme of revision of pay of college teachers following revision of the pay scales on the recommendations of 7th Central Pay Commission (CPC). The Association informed the Principal Secretary that UGC has issued the notification in this regard vide letter No:F.No.23-4/2017 (PS) dated 31st January 2018.
The Association raised the issue of authorization of eligible college teachers to act as Guide/Co-Guide for initiating and promoting research activity in colleges. It  also apprised the Principal Secretary that in certain colleges, some teaching faculty members are not getting salary for the last few months due to non availability of posts in their respective colleges. Association demanded that the matter be sorted out immediately.
The Association demanded that a Government circular may be issued regarding the validity of the orientation course for those college teachers who were directed to attend four week general orientation programme,  organized  by the Higher Education Department at Govt  College of Education ,Jammu from 31st Oct 2016 to 26th Nov 2016.
The Principal Secretary issued on the spot instructions  to examine and put up cases for DPC immediately. Regarding the implementation of 7th CPC,  he recommended the case to Principal Secretary Finance for appropriate consideration and action.
Instructions were also issued for the drawl of salary and for the issuance of Circular regarding validity of the orientation course for college teachers. He further clarified that the Department is issuing order for authorization of eligible college teachers to act as Guide/Co-Guide if registered in any university within or outside the State.
