Srinagar, Dec 16: The minimum temperatures across Kashmir today dipped several degrees below normal while Jammu recorded coldest night of the season and Meteorological Department has forecast rain and snowfall at isolated places for next 24 hours.
Srinagar witnessed a minimum temperature of minus 3.6 degree Celsius today while Pahalgam recorded minus 6.2 degree Celsius and Gulmarg minus 4.8 degree Celsius.
Kargil town recorded the minimum temperature of minus 9.4 degree Celsius. Leh recorded minus 13.2 degree Celsius, the town’s lowest temperature this season so far.
Jammu city today witnessed the season’s coldest night so far as the minimum temperature dropped to 6.5 degree Celsius. Katra town recorded 8 degree Celsius, Batote 5.9 degree Celsius Banihal 1 degrees Celsius, and Bhaderwah recorded 1.2 degree Celsius as the lowest temperature.
Srinagar recorded maximum day temperature of 9.2 degree Celsius while normal day temperature for this time of the year is 9 degree Celsius, Qazigund recorded 11.7 degree Celsius, Pahalgam 7.9 degree Celsius, Kupwara 10.1 degree Celsius, Leh 5.3 degree Celsius and Kargil minus 3.6 degree Celsius.
Jammu recorded a maximum of 18.4 degree Celsius, Katra 17 degree Celsius, Banihal 16.5 degree Celsius, Batote 14.7 degree Celsius and Bhaderwah 13.8 degree Celsius.
A MeT official said that the weather will mainly remain dry across the State while there may be snow or rain at isolated places.
