KATHUA, Nov 27: In a significant step towards improving infrastructure and connectivity in the region, Col (retd) Mahan Singh, Chairman, District Development Council (DDC) Kathua, today inaugurated the blacktopping of two critical road sections.
The blacktopping work covers 4.4 kilometers from Tirdi to Basohli and Tirdi to Pathiayara, under the City and Town Plan, with an estimated cost of Rs 63 lakh.
The inaugural ceremony witnessed the presence of MLA Basholi Darshan Kumar, Sarpanch Poli Devi, Naib Sarpanch Naresh Singh, Exen R&B, Pardeep Lahoria, AEE, and prominent citizens of the area, reflecting a strong collaborative effort toward regional development.
Speaking on the occasion, Col Mahan Singh highlighted the importance of these road projects, which form a crucial part of the Basohli-Mahanpur road. “The completion of these roads will significantly improve connectivity to key institutions like ITI Basohli, the Basohli Power House, Government Degree College Basohli, and the upcoming Sports Stadium. These infrastructure upgrades will not only ease transportation but also boost economic and educational activities in the area,” he said.
Col Mahan Singh commended the Central Government, led by Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, for its relentless focus on the development of rural areas in district Kathua. He emphasized that robust infrastructure is the backbone of progress, and initiatives like these demonstrate the Government’s commitment to uplifting remote regions.
The DDC Chairman also revealed plans for further development, including the road leading to Basohli Purthu, popularly known as “Mini Goa.” “This road project will enhance tourism potential, attracting visitors to the scenic beauty of Basohli while strengthening local livelihoods,” he said.
Col Mahan Singh reiterated his dedication to ensuring equitable development across Kathua district and called for continued public support to make these initiatives successful.
MLA Darshan Kumar and other dignitaries commended Col Mahan Singh’s proactive leadership in spearheading development projects that benefit the masses.
