JAMMU, Dec 21: Col J P Singh, Chairman Dogra Swabhiman Sangathan Ex-Services Cell, has appealed Governor Satya Pal Malik to positively consider the long pending demands of Ex-Servicemen, such as post retirement settlement, enrolment in VDCs, issuance of gun license, setting up Sainik Colonies in Jammu and Srinagar.
Col Singh also urged the Governor to initiate actions on the ESM related points enshrined in DSS Vision Document at Para 22, the copy of which was presented to him during a recent meeting with DSS, headed by Ch Lal Singh.
These points include; special package for the martyrs of past wars, proxy wars and Porters of Kargil War (Tanda Tiger Force), separate Sainik Welfare Ministry, increase in ex-gratia from Rs 5 lakh to Rs 50 lakh, any martyr from J&K elsewhere be treated at par and their NOK given jobs under SRO- 43.
Expecting favourable compassion from the Government officials also following the Governor’s appreciation for sacrifices and valour of the Army personnel in the service of the nation, Col J P Singh said that while all other States respect the soldiers and have many welfare schemes for Ex-servicemen; J&K is lacking far behind in every respect and is infact utterly callous towards soldiers and Ex-Servicemen.
