JAMMU, Nov 18:   Condemning the State Government for its policy of delay and deny over elections to Urban Local Bodies, Panchayat polls, Shiv Sena ( Bala Sahib Thackery), today said that the State has been deprived of thousands of crores of rupees for development of Municipal areas which has been withheld by the Central Government since 2010 due to the failure of the State Government to constitute the elected municipal bodies.
In a press conference State president of Sena, Dimpy Kohli and its other leaders Manish Sahni, Rakesh Kak, Ashwani Gupta and Rajeev Bhandari said that non-holding of ULB elections due to vested interests of present coalition BJP, PDP despite repeated assurances during 2015, 2016 and 2017 has deprived the State of development grants for municipal bodies which comprised 74 Municipal Committees, 6 Municipal Councils and 2 Municipal Corporations.
Kohli further said that with no indication of such elections being held before March 2018, the State was set to lose another hundred of crores due to political inexpediencies of BJP and PDP.
Kohli said that today people of the State are fed up with the anti-people policies of State Government and want to get rid of this present coalition. Kohli said that PDP, BJP knows this fact that they are going to lose all the Municipal, Panchayat seats and that’s why they are delaying Urban Local Bodies and Panchayat polls.
Reminding the Government of the assurances doled out by it repeatedly for early holding of ULB elections, Kohli said that ‘in-explicable’ delay and repeated postponements of the same despite the State election authorities having indicated their preparedness on scores of occasions. He called upon the Governor to intervene in his capacity as the Constitutional head of the State and ensure early elections so that rule of law prevails.
He said his party is fully ready to contest on all the Urban Local Bodies, Panchayat seats and is fully assured of winning on all the seats.
