CNGEEU against privatization of power sector

JAMMU, Jan 18: J&K Central Non-Gazetted Electrical Employees Union (CNGEEU) has strongly opposed the privatization of  power sector.
In a meeting of the Union held here today under the leadership of Sheikh Ajaz Ahmed  and Mohd Maqbool, senior trade unionists,  the speakers strongly projected the issues of the PDD workers. They opposed the move of the Govt with regard to the  privatisation of  the PDD sector. They demanded regularization of daily rated workers and casual labourers.
They also termed the SRO-520 as anti-worker and warned the Government to stop exploitation of the employees. They said decision with regard to unbundling of power sector was not in the  interest of  employees and the State.
Later, a deputation of  the Union met the Commissioner Power and projected the issues of the workers. They demanded early conduct of  DPC of all cadre, expedite process of regularization of temporary/ daily rated workers, implementation of SRO 59 and 149, amend recruitment rules  and create welfare fund for the workers.
