CME on cancer treatment, BMT held

JAMMU, Feb 22: Amandeep Group of Hospitals organized a Continuous Medical Education (CME) programme in association with Indian Medical Association (IMA), Amritsar.
Dr. Rajeev Gupta, Medical Oncologist & Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) Specialist updated the doctors on Multiple Myeloma, a type of Blood Cancer, in which bone marrow produces abnormal proteins that destroys bones, kidneys and other organs and ultimately the patient dies.
Dr. Gupta said due to the recent advances in treatment especially BMT such patients can live long.
He highlighted the need to educate physicians and medical fraternity about BMT in such patients. Replying to queries about BMT facilities in Amritsar, Dr. Gupta informed that first successful BMT was done by him in September 2019 at Amritsar in an economical budget.
He also said that Amandeep Medicity has geared up its facilities to treat all type of Cancers.
Dr. Maninderbir Kaur, Lab Head and Pathologist at Ampath Amandeep Medicity Amritsar educated the gathering about latest Pathological tests and investigations in Multiple Myeloma available in the Ampath Lab.
Dr. Rajeev Vohra also educated the Doctors about various techniques and surgical operative procedures done in Bone Cancer.

Senior Orthopedic Surgeon, Dr. K.K Singh also spoke on the occasion.
