CME on cancer in women held

JAMMU, May 11: A CME on young Gynaecologist Oncologists was organized by IOGCH under the aegis of Jammu AGOI Chapter in scientific collaboration with teaching and health care institutions of Jammu region in the premise of Lajwanti Medical Trust, opposite Greater Kailash colony, here.
The national participants in this programme were derived from faculty members, residents and post graduate students working in Gynaecological oncology in reputed cancer centres and tertiary care institution of India such as Rajiv Gandhi Cancer Institute, Delhi, University College of Medical Sciences, Delhi, Indo-American Cancer Institute, Hyderabad, Cancer Institute, Gwalior, Manipal Hospital, Bangalore, PGI Chandigarh, Tata Memorial Cancer Hospital, Kolkata and Regional Cancer Centre, Cuttack.
The local participants included the faculty and residents working in Oncology Department of teaching institution, Narayana Hospital, Katra and health care professionals working in district hospitals.
CME supported by Lajwanti Medical Trust and sponsored by J&K Bank was designed to promote skill in Gynaecologic Oncology.
The organizers Dr Shashi Gupta, Prof and Head Obstetrics and Gynaecology GMC Jammu, Dr Sapna Puri, Prof and Head Obs and Gynac ASCOMS, Dr Anil Mehta, consultant Gynaecologist, Government Hospital, Gandhi Nagar, Dr Sandeep Kour, Associate Prof Regional Cancer Centre, Jammu and Dr Sandeep Koul, Surgical Oncologist, Narayana Hospital, Katra feel that developing and implementing skill development courses is not difficult. They consider that it is not a path to riches but commitment to develop next generation of specialists working in the field of Gynaecologic Oncology. These courses include video based education and scientific interaction amongst residents through awarding winning paper session. These programmes will provide our surgical and non surgical residents and students the standard of education and training in cancer care with the overall goals of improving the safety of patients.
