CM for coordinated approach to address traffic congestion in Valley

SRINAGAR, Apr 3: Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti has stressed on a coordinated approach by various agencies to address the emerging issue of traffic congestion in Srinagar city and on other highways of Kashmir valley.
Chairing a meeting to review the steps being taken to arrest the tendency of traffic jams on some busy roads of Srinagar city and Kashmir valley here today, the Chief Minister stressed on adoption of scientific methods to gauge the traffic density in a particular area and likely impact of any corrective measure on the same.
Mehbooba Mufti directed the SMC, SDA and other civic bodies’ heads to join their heads together and make a holistic joint plan of action for managing the traffic in the city which can be gradually put in place.  She directed keeping available transport on all routes in the evenings and checking overloading and over charging.
The meeting was briefed about several measures being taken to clear the traffic congestion at various critical points in the city and along the major roads in the Kashmir valley.
Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, Baseer Ahmad Khan; IG Traffic, Jagjit Kumar; DIG, CKR, G H Bhat; VC, SDA, Tehseen Mustafa; Chief Engineer, R&B Kashmir, Abdul Hamid; Commissioner, SMC, Dr. Shafqat A Khan; and other senior civil and Police officers were present in the meeting.
