SRINAGAR, Dec 11: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today said that he will take action against the erring official who has allegedly stopped an ambulance that led to death of a man.
Relatives of an 80-year-old man Abdul Rahim Dar claimed that he died as he could not reach the hospital on time as the ambulance was halted for about half an hour by Mobile Magistrate at Seelu Sopore yesterday.
Omar has assured action in the case. “Just saw the IBNLive piece about the ambulance stopped because of a siren. Can’t believe the sheer bloody mindlessness of that action. Will ask my IG in Kashmir to collect the facts in this matter & take action immediately to punish any guilty personnel,” Omar tweeted today.
Dar had a serious cardiac condition and was referred to a Super Specialty Srinagar Hospital by a Handwara hospital.
However, Manzoor Ahmad Khan, the Mobile Magistrate North Kashmir said: “The ambulance which was halted for five minutes was not ferrying any patient but few passengers including a woman.”
