CM assures inquiry into deaths

SRINAGAR, Oct 9: Chief Minister, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, today assured the Assembly of a transparent and time-bound investigation into two deaths in Kathua district last year.
Speaking during Calling Attention Notice moved by MLA Kulgam, MY Tarigami on the death of Kamla Devi in Kathua on March 28, 2014, the Chief Minister assured the law maker of a transparent and time-bound investigation to bring the culprits to justice.
Tarigami said that the deaths of Neelam Devi and Ganesh Kumar of Gura Kalyal Morha Sarni, Billawar in district Kathua is not accidental but a murder and there is an attempt of cover up.
The MLA demanded inquiry by Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). The Chief Minister stood up and said that the report presented by the police is factual as the family has no animosity with any body and there is no external injury.
Rejecting CBI inquiry, Mufti said that Jammu and Kashmir Police is more competent. He assured the MLA that the matter will be investigated.
