JAMMU, May 11: Cluster University of Jammu has announced that it has received the prestigious approval of the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) for its Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) and Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA) programs with a total intake of 180 in BBA (SPMR College, MAM College) and 240 in BCA (SPMR College, GGM Science College, MAM College) and 10 percent over and above seats for EWS students.
Vice Chancellor, Prof K S Chandrasekar while announcing the same, mentioned that it is the landmark achievement for the university, as it marks the first time that AICTE approval has been granted for these programs, despite their successful implementation in the constituent colleges for over two decades.
The formal recognition by AICTE now positions the University to offer these courses under a nationally recognized framework, ensuring enhanced academic and professional opportunities for students.
With this approval, students enrolled in the BBA and BCA programs will now be eligible to apply for numerous AICTE-sponsored schemes such as internships, scholarships and funding opportunities, student development initiatives, credit transfer, and industry-academia partnerships. This will significantly enhance the employability and practical exposure of students on a national basis.
Prof Naveen Anand, Dean Academic Affairs, took a lead role along with Registrar, Controller of Examinations, Deans, Finance officer, Planning section, IT Cell and members of the academic section in complying to bring the AICTE approval, first of its kind for the University.
Ankur Mahajan, Registrar, informed that it was a long drawn meticulous process through which the application was filed during the month of January 2025 and praised all the administrative and academic staff for the same.
Prof Naveen Anand mentioned that AICTE approval was the need of the hour. It not only validates the quality and relevance of BBA and BCA programs but also opens the door to several national-level opportunities for our students, he added.
The Vice Chancellor also praised the efforts made by Prof Rajinder Singh, Principal, SPMR College; Prof Romesh Gupta, Principal, GGM Science College; Prof B B Anand, former Principal, MAM College for making more awareness among the students on the benefits of this approval.
