NEW DELHI : The Centre has issued an advisory to the Jammu and Kashmir government to pursue all 27 cases vigorously against separatist leader Masarat Alam, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh informed the Rajya Sabha today. In a statement, Mr Singh said he would ensure the surveillance of the J&K separatist leader and his supporters to maintain public order.
“State government will ensure that surveillance on Masarat Alam is done in tandem with the Central government. “The Centre told the J& K government that all criminal cases against Masarat Alam must be pursued vigorously,” he said. Following an uproar by the Opposition parties earlier this week over the release of Masarat by the Mufti Mohanmmad Sayeed-led government, Mr Singh had issued statements in both the Houses.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also expressed his outrage over the release of Masarat.
