JAMMU, Aug 23: On the second day of their agitation, the clerical cadre employees today took out a massive protest rally in Jammu and also held demonstrations at their respective district headquarters.
In Jammu, a protest rally was taken out from Panama Chowk to the office of Divisional Commissioner, at Rail Head Complex, Railway Road today. The employees of the cadre led by Ravi Singh Bhau, Ravinder Singh, Sukhbir Singh and others from various Government departments and Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) assembled at Panama Chowk at around 11 am and then started their protest rally towards Divisional Commissioner’s office. They were raising slogans in support of their demand of removing pay anomalies. They were also carrying banners and placards in their hands depicting their demand.
The employees leaders held demonstration and dharna outside Divisional Commissioner’s office and also submitted a memorandum for the Government with the main demand of removing pay anomalies. They alleged that despite assurance by none other than the Chief Minister, their demand has remained unattended.
Several other employees including Bashir Malik, Sukhbir Singh, Ravi Kumar, Anil Kesar, Kuldip Singh, Rohit George, Yash Paul and Ashish Bhandari besides others addressed employees gatherings at DC office, Directorate of Health Services, Excise and Taxation, PWD, PDD, Forest etc. They appealed the employees to remain united for their common cause. They also issued appeal to the Government to removal pay anomalies of Junior/ Senior Assistants and Statistical Assistants.
Health Employees Welfare Association and Clerks Association, Health department Jammu also fully supported the strike and struck work. They warned the authorities to intensify their struggle if the demands are not met with.
Similar protest demonstrations were also held at Kathua, Samba, Udhampur, Rajouri and other district headquarters in the region. The work remained affected in many Government offices with the strike of clerical cadre staff.
Meanwhile, Jammu Kashmir Ladakh All Departments Clerical Staff Association has also decided to stage protest march from Partap Park in Srinagar on August 27 in support of their demand. The employees from all the three regions have been asked to attend this grand protest programme in Srinagar.
