The cleanliness drive launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti has generated debate among the countrymen. Though the Opposition parties have their own axe to grind, and oppose the Government for sake of Opposition, people in general felt elated over this drive.
One is fully aware that there will be no transformation overnight, it will certainly take time before the countrymen will start paying attention towards keeping public places or their surroundings spic and span. Our public places like railway stations, bus stands even hospitals present a shabby picture. The concept of using bins at public places has not fully evolved in our minds. One would see people throwing wrapers, banana peels and other items on roads, gardens and other places.
We gush about cleanliness in foreign countries but complain about our dirty roads without realizing who is after all responsible for such a situation.
