JAMMU, May 17: Chief Judicial Magistrate Jammu Suneet Gupta today rejected the bail application of one Venkata Krishna Modegula, who was arrested by the Crime Branch in much publicized rice puller case.
As per Crime Branch report, a written complaint was lodged by Raj Kumar Gupta of Gandhi Nagar mentioning that accused Venkata Krishna Modegula, D BalasubranayamTirupati, Gowhar Hussain Rather, Afroz Ahmed Khan, Mushtaq Ahmed, Sohail Ahmed Khan, Imtiaz Ahmed Khan, Bilqees Mir, Mohammad Maqbool Dar, Irfan Ul Hamid, Sheikh Irshad, Mohammad Ishtiaq Lone, Syed Gulzar Ahmed, Abdul Rashid Malik. Manoj Kalsi, Balbir Singh, Parvez Ahmed Bakarwal, Tahir Bakerwal, B Ramakrishna, Raju Kumar Singh, Ajay Saini and Ashok Tak approached him from time to time and allured him that they were having a precious article called Rice Puller (RP), which will benefit him by bringing good fortune and money.
The complainant owing to the allurements agreed to the proposal and in the process transferred and paid lakhs of rupees to the accused persons through bank transactions and cash. However, the accused persons after taking the huge sum of money vanished into thin air thereby cheated the complainant of his hard earned money.
On the receipt of this complaint, a preliminary verification was initiated in Crime Branch and it was established that the complainant was cheated.
Accordingly, a formal case was registered at Police Station Crime Branch, Jammu. During the course of investigation, it came to the fore that Venkata Krishna Modegula was involved in crime and has cheated the complainant and number of other persons by using forged documents. He was arrested from Padma Rao Nagar Hyderabad on 06.05.2016.
After hearing Advocate HC Jalmeria and Advocate Manoj Gorkela for the accused person whereas Senior PO MA Almansoor with Inspector Sajjad Pervaz for the Crime Branch, the CJM observed, “there is prima-facie sufficient evidence to connect the accused with the commission of offence and the nature and gravity of the accusation against him are so serious”.
With these observations, court rejected the bail application of Venkata Krishna Modegula.
