JAMMU, Mar 8: Chief Justice of State High Court Justice Gita Mittal, who is also Patron-in-Chief J&K State Legal Services Authority, today inaugurated One Stop Centre for Women at New Plots here on the occasion of International Women’s Day.
One Stop Centre for Women was launched by the District Legal Services Authority in collaboration with Aman Movement and 181 Women Helpline to protect the human rights of the women and to provide access to justice.
The centre will be providing range of services that include medical assistance, legal and psychological support, police assistance, video-conferencing to facilitate police as well as court proceedings besides information and support to access social welfare schemes of the Central as well as State Governments.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Justice laid stress on making each and every girl and women especially illiterate sections about legal rights so that no one is able to exploit them.
She also spoke about Right to Free Legal Aid to Women, Minimum Wages Act, eve-teasing, child marriage and right to maternity benefit etc.
Vinod Chatterji Koul, Principal District and Sessions Judge, Mohd Akram Choudhary, Member Secretary J&K State Legal Services Authority Jammu, Registrar Vigilance R K Watal, Principal Secretary to Chief Justice Jawad Ahmed and Registrar Rules Jyoti Bala were among others present on the occasion.
Earlier, District Legal Services Authority Jammu in collaboration with Government PG College for Women Gandhi Nagar celebrated International Women’s Day.
Chief Justice Gita Mittal was the chief guest on the occasion.
