CJ dis-satisfied over disposal of old cases

JAMMU, July 4: Chief Justice of State High Court, Justice N Paul Vasantha Kumar has expressed dis-satisfaction over the disposal of old cases by different courts in Jammu and Kashmir.
“As directed, I am conveying the dis-satisfaction of the Chief Justice over the disposal of old cases”, Registrar General of High Court, Kaneez Fatima has said in a communication to all the Principal District Judges.
She said that Chief Justice has desired that 5 year and 10 year old cases shall be taken up on priority basis so that back log of these cases is cleared. The Registrar General has impressed upon all the Principal District and Sessions Judges to submit progress report of their respective districts in the matter after every three months in the first week of preceding quarter so that progress and disposal of these cases is monitored.
Meanwhile, High Court has reconstituted a sub-committee to provide inputs and suggestions to the National Court Management Systems Committee for formulation and effective implementation of National Policy/Plan in pursuance to the resolution adopted in the Chief Justices’ Conference, 2013 for implementation of National Court Management Systems.
The sub-committee is comprised of Justice Ali Mohammad Magrey, Justice Dhiraj Singh Thakur, Prof N A Ganai, Honorary Advisor, Registrar General J&K High Court, Law Secretary, District Judges R S Jain and Rashid Ali Dar, Director J&K State Judicial Academy, Senior Advocates D C Raina and R A Jan, Veena Thappar, Joint Director in the office of Director General, Economics and Statistics as expert Statistician, Head of Department, School of Management, University of Jammu/Kashmir and Incharge NIC, High Court of J&K.
