CJ describes Bar as nursery of Judges

JAMMU, Nov 7: Describing Bar as nursery of Judges, Chief Justice M M Kumar today said that learning which comes from the Bar is unique.
“We admire the system of choosing Judges from the Bar and if the same is strong, we are bound to have a good Bench and the practice should continue”, he said while addressing a function organized by Jammu and Kashmir High Court Bar Association at the High Court premises to felicitate the five newly elevated Judges of the High Court namely Justice A M Magray, Justice D S Thakur, Justice Tashi Rabstan, Justice B L Bhat and Justice J R Kotwal.
“These Judges have earned the present position through their excellence and merit”, Chief Justice said, adding “all the budding advocates should come forward and take inspiration from their elevation”.
He also laid stress on cordial relations between Bar and Bench and said, “both have a major role to play in strengthening the institution of judiciary”.
Earlier, in his welcome address, Senior Advocate and President Bar Association M K Bhardwaj presented a brief insight into the meritorious background of the newly elevated Judges of the High Court.
Justice Virender Singh, Justice Hasnain Masoodi, Advocate General M I Qadri, Registrar General, Suresh Kumar Sharma, Senior Advocates, former Judges of the High Court, former Presidents of the Bar Association, members of the Bar and subordinate judiciary, besides others were present on the occasion.
On the occasion, mementos were also presented to the newly elevated Judges.
Vice President Bar Association Sindhu Sharma presented vote of thanks.
