Civilian killed, three others injured in 4 militant attacks

SRINAGAR: Acivilian was killed and three others injured in multiple incidents in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Thursday.
Unidentified gunmen shot dead a shopkeeper in Tral town of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district. The officials said the gunmen fired upon the shopkeeper Mohammad Ayoub Ahangar. Ahangar was taken to a hospital but was declared dead on arrival.
In another incident, militants shot and injured Mohammad Aslam, a driver, in the Wanpora area of the Pulwama district.
Two other unidentified persons were also injured during an exchange of fire between militants and security forces in Pulwama’s Pampore. Security forces launched a cordon-and-search operation in the Lalpora area of Pampore in South Kashmir district following information about the presence of militants in the area, a police official said.
The militants fired indiscriminately and two unidentified persons were injured. The security forces retaliated, the official said, adding the search operation was going on.
Another encounter between militants and joint security forces took place in the Meej area of Pampore. Based on a specific input, the security forces launched a cordon-and-search operation in the area. As the forces were sealing the area, militants opened fire, resulting in an encounter.
