Clothes of abducted soldier found

Srinagar, Aug 7: A civilian was killed and five others including a woman were injured in the Line of Control firing in Karnah sector of North Kashmir’s Kupwara district today.
A 35-year-old civilian was killed at Bagh Bella in Karnah sector of Kupwara while five others who were injured are undergoing treatment in Srinagar.
They said that Pakistan resorted to unprovoked ceasefire violations in Karnah sector that created panic in civilian areas. Three civilians were injured and they were shifted to nearby health centres.

Among the three injured, one succumbed to his injuries while two others were shifted to Sher-e Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) Soura, Srinagar for treatment.
The slain man has been identified as Muhammad Arif, 35, and the injured as Rafaqat and Muhammad Yaqoob, all residents of Bagh Bella Kachaida in Karnah sector.
Three more civilians including a woman were injured in the firing at Kralpora area of Rangwar, Chowkibal, Kupwara. The injured have received injuries in arms, legs and shoulders and all have been shifted to Srinagar for treatment.
Among the three injured include a 42-year-old woman, Zakir Ahmad, 24, and Naseer Ahmad. All have been shifted to Bone and Joint hospital Srinagar for treatment.
The shelling has stopped in the area but few residential houses have suffered minor damage in Chowkibal.
Meanwhile, locals said that the cross border shelling has created panic in the affected areas and many have moved to safer places.
Srinagar based Defence spokesman, Colonel Rajesh Kalia said here that Pakistan initiated an unprovoked ceasefire violation today evening along the LoC in Machhil sector, Kupwara by firing small arms and automatic weapons. “Befitting response is being given”, he added.
Locals today found clothes belonging to abducted Army man from an orchard in Landoora village of Imamsahab here in South Kashmir’s Shopian district.
Security forces including soldiers and SOG personnel rushed to the orchard and found a T-shirt and other stuff belonging to the abducted soldier.
The services of sniffer dogs were pressed into service and the area has been cordoned off.
Militants on Aug 2 after setting the vehicle of an Army soldier on fire abducted him in South Kashmir’s Kulgam district.
The abducted soldier has been identified as Shakir Manzoor of Jammu Kashmir Light Infantry.
