POONCH, Feb 18: Civil society members today demanded establishment of memorial of Dr Masud Choudhary, former ADGP and founder Vice Chancellor, Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University, in tehsil Mendhar of district Poonch.
In this connection, a meeting of civil society members was organized under the charimanship of Choudhary Mir Mohammad, social activist and prominent citizen of tehsil Mendhar.
In the meeting, Javed Rana (president, Pir Panjal Zone, National Conference), Ch Qamar (former legislator), DDC Member Shahnawaj Choudhary, DDC Member Shafiq Mir, Maulana Sayeed, Maulana Fateh Mohammad, Advocate Nazir Hussain, Advocate Maroof Khan, Shafayat Khan and Zeeshan Rana (additional spokesperson, NC) were present.
The civil society members threw light on the life history of Dr Masud Choudhary, terming him as a prominent educator, social reformer, an administrator and a par excellent police officer. They said that the contribution of Dr Masud to the society is immense as he dedicated his entire life for the social cause. His services and contributions to the society will always be remembered, they added.
The speakers termed Dr Choudhary to be the kind hearted human being having qualities of head and heart. They said that the death of this great personality has created a vacuum in the society which is hard to be filled as he has left an imprint of public service with a sense of commitment and unmatched sincerity. They said that Dr Masud was an upright administrator and a world class academician who gave a lot to the region.
Notably, a law graduate Dr Masud Choudhary started his career as Deputy SP in 1967 in J&K Police who was later inducted to IPS cadre. He has contributed to the J&K Police in various capacities. He retired as ADGP Police Headquarters in 2003. He was also the founder Vice Chancellor of Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University.
The civil society demanded that the Government should allot some space in the prominent place of tehsil Mendhar and establish his memorial in view of his services and contributions to the society.
