BHADERWAH, July 14: Civil society and senior citizens today held a protest here against Government for premature transfer of doctors and also not filling the vacant posts at Sub-District Hospital, here.
Members of civil society, political parties and senior citizens after holding a protest at Takiya Chowk under the leadership of Senior politician Mast Nath Yogi, later submitted a memorandum to Health Minister Bali Bhagat through SDM Bhaderwah demanding filling of vacant posts of specialist doctors at the earliest and also calling back the doctors who had gone for long leave immediately after joining at SDH Bhaderwah.
Instead of filling the vacant specialist posts, Government transferred recently posted ENT specialist to Doda without providing any replacement, due to which poor patients have no other option but to rush to Doda or Jammu for treatment”, said Mast Nath Yogi.
As promised and sanctioned by the previous Government, Mother Child Care Centre and ANM Training School should be immediately started in the old hospital building, he demanded.
The patients who can be treated at this hospital are referred to either District Hospital Doda or to GMC Jammu due to non-availability of doctors and para staff”, said Senior NC leader Choudhary Shabir Ahmed.
Members of civil society also demanded regulation of traffic in Ganpat market, Sadar Bazaar and Seri Bazaar. They also demanded that a public convenience (Sulabh Toilet) be constructed in Seri Bazaar without any further delay.
SDM Bhaderwah Mohammad Anwar Banday gave a patient hearing to members of civil society and senior citizens and assured them that he will not only take up the matter with concerned authorities but will also try his best to mitigate the basic problems being faced by the common public including parking and sulabh toilet complex issues.
