Civil Society appeals Govt to solve drinking water problem

KISHTWAR,Aug 5: Civil Society Kishtwar in a meeting here, today has expressed grave concern that despite repeated pleas to authorities they failed to take interest in solving the water scarcity problem in the Kishtwar district in general and town in particular.
Addressing the meeting Shamsher Singh Bhandari member of the civil society and Congress leader and Farooq Ahmed Tapal a Trade Union activist said that people in Kishtwar are facing grave problem due to water scarcity and the authorities at the helm of affairs are ignoring the problem despite repeated pleas.
They said that callousness of the authorities of PHE Department in solving the problem despite the fact that water being an essential necessity of life has generated a lot of public resentment in the area as taps remain dry for days together.
The meeting also demanded installation of flood lights from Malipeth to Hasti Morh, construction of parking slots in the town, sanction of Degree College in Dachan and Women Colllege in Kisjhtwar, besides restoring work on Rattle Hydel Project.
