SAMBA, Sept 18: CII J&K State Council organized an Interactive Session on Environment, Health & Safety for industry at Industrial Area of the district primarily to sensitize members on environment, health and safety aspects at the workplace.
Sheetal Nanda, Deputy Commissioner, Samba, was the chief guest. In her address she said that it is the responsibility of every industrialist to take care of environment, health and safety of their employees. She said that the industrialists should come forward and contribute in Corporate Social Responsibilities.
Responding to the CII representation given to her in ending August, she ensured the members that the action has already started. The construction of entry road to Industrial Area Phase II is in progress. She added that the matter of linking Samba Industrial Phase 1 and 2 has been taken up with the concerned departments and soon it will be resolved.
Later she also visited to inspect the open incomplete nullah and assured the members that the matter will be taken up with the concerned authorities to get the work completed. Nanda also stressed upon the early completion of treatment plant at Samba.
Earlier, welcoming the delegates Rahul Sahai, convener, Manufacturing Competitiveness and MSME Panel, CII J&K State Council and Managing Director, Sahai Group, said that in today’s scenario, businesses operate in markets that are characterized by a growing awareness of wider sustainability issues, such as environmental pollution, employees’ safety and occupational health.
Dr Yash Paul, Senior Scientist, J&K State Pollution Control Board, gave an overview of the norms, rules and regulations of Pollution Control Board and shared that very soon industry friendly policy will come up by the board for the benefit of the industry. He also answered various queries raised by the delegates regarding the pollution control board.
Krishan Lal, General Manager – DIC Samba and Ajit Singh Estate Officer J & K SIDCO (Samba) also addressed the participants.
