Chugh pays tribute to Taploo, recalls his services

JAMMU, Sept 14: BJP national general secretary and in charge Jammu Kashmir and Ladakh UTs, Tarun Chugh today said that BJP will leave no stone unturned in fulfilling the dreams of party’s former vice president of J&K and veteran leader, Tika Lal Taploo.
Paying tribute to late leader on his Martyrdom Day today he said Taploo was an inspiration for all of us and we learn the service to mankind and society from him who was a very bold human being. He said later leader was killed on this day in 1989 by the militants outside his house in Srinagar and prior to that twice attempts on his life were made by the militants.
After getting continuous threats from militants, Taploo had send his family to Delhi but then Government did not take it seriously with the result he was killed on September 14 in 1989, Chugh said.
Chugh said his killing was first attack on a towering KP leader in Kashmir and thousands of people attended his last journey which included senior BJP leader and former Deputy PM, L K Advani. He said Taploo was associated with RSS from his childhood and he was commonly known as Lala in Kashmir.
The BJP leader said it is unfortunate that his killers were stills scot free and after seven weeks of his death Neelkant Ganjoo the ex District and Session judge was killed. It was Pt Neelkant Ganjoo who had given death sentence to JKLF leader, Maqbool Bhat, he added.
Chugh said this year in March BJP has named a school in Rohni area of Delhi on the name of Taploo. This was a small effort to give honour to late leader for his service and sacrifice, he added.
