JAMMU, Mar 3: Chowkidars and Numberdars are without remuneration for the last over six months.
A village Numberdar, Surinder Kumar from Sallan in Hiranagar said that over two dozen Numberdars from the Tehsil in a meeting held today expressed strong resentment over the attitude of the authorities for not releasing remuneration of Rs 750 per month in favour of Numberdars and Chowkidars for the last six months. They alleged that Deputy Commissioner Kathua was also apprised of the matter about two months back but nothing has been done in this regard. Another reminder was given to the Tehsildar Hiranagar but the matter still remains unsolved.
They urged upon the Divisional Commissioner, Jammu Shantmanu to intervene into the matters and release `peanut wages’ of the Numberdars and Chowkidars without any delay.
