Chinese incursions

Sir,
50 men ( a platoon –strength) of  China’s  People’s Liberation Army (PLA) intrude 10 Kms  inside our territory, and establish a tented post in  Burthe  in the Daulat Beg Oldi (DBO)  sector of Eastern Ladakh on 15 April.   We  call it a routine matter, and decide to resolve it with talks.  “ Nothing to worry about”  says the J&K CM, Omar Abdullah, because LAC is not marked there.  In that case, why didn’t we go 10 Kms inside the Chinese territory, and establish a post? Then, we would have seen how China reacts.
I feel  there is much to worry about, and we got to take these recurring incursions, and violations of our border by China, seriously. It is not the first time that China is exhibiting  belligerence towards India . It occupied Aksai Chin after the 1962 war, and connected to the strategic  Karakoram Pass, over looking ODB.  China  has time and again tried to nibble on the borders with Arunachal Pradesh  ( claiming it as its own territory). She  has made it a habit to enter our borders, put up some of their flags,  paint red few boulders,  and write something in Chinese on these. She creates a situation for a flag meeting, and then may withdraw leaving behind its symbols, and an offensive posture. It refuses visas to selected people, including one of our ex Army commanders.
Over the years, China as been building its military strength, and logistics infrastructure, particularly along our borders. China has built a huge networks of roads, and even connected Lhasa in Tibet with a rail line. She also plans to connect Aksai Chin with Xingjian province, and a railway line along the Karokaram Highway. China’s designs are clear – it wants to increase its areas  of influence, and areas of interest, by occupying maximum  territory, where ever it can. We have come way ahead since the  1962 war, and are much better prepared now, in man, machines, and motivation. So, we  got to face China squarely, with matching military power, and a strong political will. Flag meetings and talks are not enough. It is time to face the challenge.  No one else will do, we have to fight our own battle.
Yours etc….
