Chilli, turmeric fall on subdued demand

NEW DELHI, Feb 27:  Red chilli and turmeric prices drifted by Rs 100 per quintal in the national capital today largely due to easing demand from retailers and stockists amidst adequate stocks.
Pick up in arrivals from growing regions also put pressure on the chilli and turmeric prices.
Red chilli and turmeric prices drifted by Rs 100 each to end at Rs 10,000-15,500 and Rs 10,000-14,200 per quintal, respectively.
Marketmen said subdued demand from retailers and stockists against adequate stocks, mainly pulled down chilli and turmeric prices.
Following are today’s quotations (in Rs):
Ajwain (per kg) 150-190, black pepper (per kg) 680-830, betel-nut (kg) 300-350, cardamom brown-Jhundiwali (kg) 1,340-1,350 and cardamom brown-Kanchicut (kg) 1,410-1,790.
Cardamom small (kg): Chitridar 525-650, cardamom (colour robin) 540-550, cardamom bold 570-580, cardamom extra (bold) 610-630 and cloves 550-660. (PTI)
