Chilli, turmeric down on subdued demand

NEW DELHI, July 4:Red chilli and turmeric prices fell by Rs 100 per quintal in the national capital today due to easing demand from retailers and stockists amidst adequate stocks.
Increased arrivals from growing regions and weakening trend in futures market also put pressure on chilli and turmeric prices.
Red chilli and turmeric prices fell by Rs 100 each to conclude at Rs 7,500-15,200 and Rs 7,800-12,300 per quintal, respectively.
Marketmen said subdued demand from retailers and stockists against adequate stocks, mainly pulled down chilli and turmeric prices.
Following are today’s quotations (in Rs):
Ajwain (per kg) 155-190, black pepper (per kg) 600-750, betel-nut (kg) 300-350, cardamom brown-Jhundiwali (kg) 1,800-1,820 and cardamom brown-Kanchicut (kg) 2,070-2,090.
Cardamom small (kg): Chitridar 790-850, cardamom (colour robin) 790-810, cardamom bold 800-820, cardamom extra (bold) 930-980 and cloves 750-850. (PTI)
