REASI, May 20: A five year old child among two persons were killed and six others got injured, two of them critically, when a passenger Van skidded off the road and fell into a gorge here at Jamallan Nallah near village Sarh.
The deceased have been identified as Zahid-ul-Islam (5) son of Shabir Ahmed and Mohammad Shafi son of Azim while the critically injured have been identified as Mehnaz Kouser daughter of Shabir Ahmed and Ahmed Din son of Bashir Ahmed. Both the critically injured persons were airlifted to Jammu for specialized treatment.
For the purpose, Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Pradeep Gupta, deputed a helicopter for airlifting the critically injured on the requisition made by DC Reasi.
The DC Reasi has directed SDM Mahore to hold an inquiry into the cause of accident. He also summoned BRO authorities to explain the delay in the up-gradation work on the road that has resulted in frequent accidents.
Meanwhile, the District Red Cross has provided a relief of Rs 10000 to the families of the deceased persons and Rs 5000 to injured persons.
