Chief Secretary reviews Decriminalisation of Laws under the Jan Vishwas Act

LEH, Jan 28: The Chief Secretary of the Union Territory of Ladakh, Ashish Kundra, today chaired a review meeting to examine the decriminalisation of existing Acts and laws under the Jan Vishwas Act.

During the meeting, Kundra reviewed a comparative statement of the existing legal provisions, focusing on the nature of offences, prescribed penalties, and the jurisdictional processes involved.

Detailed discussions were held on the proposed amendments, with an emphasis on replacing minor criminal penalties with civil liabilities to ensure a more facilitative and citizen friendly regulatory framework.

The Chief Secretary also deliberated on the Bovine Breeding Regulation, highlighting the need for effective implementation while safeguarding local interests and livestock development.

In addition, he reviewed the provisions of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), examining their implications and ensuring alignment with the overall objectives of legal reform and administrative efficiency.

Kundra stressed interdepartmental coordination and directed the concerned officers to ensure the timely and transparent implementation of the proposed reforms.

The key attendees included Administrative Secretaries, Sanjit Rodrigues, PT Rudra Goud, Bhupesh Chaudhary, Shashanka Ala, Bhanu Prabha, Heads of Departments and other senior officials.
