Chib express concern over slow pace of work on projects

JAMMU, Sept 6: Minister for Medical and Technical Education, Youth Services and Sports, Prof RS Chib today chaired a meeting   convened to review the pace on various works being executed by R&B, PDD, Irrigation, PHE, Education, Rural Development and other departments in R. S Pura tehsil .
The meeting was attended by District Development Commissioner Jammu,  Sanjeev Verma, Director School Education, SE, PWD and Chief Education Officer Jammu, besides senior functionaries of line departments.
Functionaries of each department  gave a detailed resume of the status of various projects, which  among others included Balole Kulian Road being constructed by R&B Department , besides physical and financial achievements registered under various schemes like PMGSY, NABARD,  MNREGA and Border Area Development Plan.
Speaking on the occasion, the Mr Chib said that the coalition Government was keen to develop all border and far-flung areas at par with the urban centres with special focus on the   creation of infrastructure under PHE, Education, Health, R&B and other vital sectors.
Reviewing the implementation of flagship development schemes, the Minister said that the schemes launched by State and Centre Government were a bone for improving the socioeconomic condition.  He said the main focus was being laid on the improvement of    basic amenities by creating durable infrastructure.   He called upon the officers to make extra efforts to ensure effective implementation of the poverty alleviation schemes so that the benefits reach to the targeted lot.
Inquiring about the power scenario in the border Tehsil, the Minister informed that the Government has already purchased additional power to improve the power scenario in the state particularly in rural belts. He directed the concerned PDD authorities to provide sufficient number of poles, besides installation of additional transformers to mitigate the power requirement. He appealed the people to use power judiciously and pay their tariff in time.
Seeking information about the functioning of the Government Degree College R.S. Pura  , the Minister was informed that the campus  building requires some repairs.  He asked the DDC Jammu to personally look into the matter and make proposal so that short term measures be taken for temporary repairs. He enquired about the delay of work on construction of Revenue Complex, R.S. Pura and directed the concerned to immediately start the work so that it would be made functional.
Chief Education Officer, Jammu apprised the Minister that under Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA), RAMSA and other schemes most of the Government school buildings have been constructed in R.S. Pura block and rest would be completed in a specific time period.
Expressed dissatisfaction over slow pace of work on some development projects, the Minister enjoined upon the concerned authorities to be prompt and initiate measures and involve MLAs and public representations to ensure that ambitious projects would be completed in a time bound manner for convenience of public.
