Chib calls on PM, discusses farmers’ issues

JAMMU, July 25: Daljit Singh Chib, Vice Chairman J&K State Advisory Board for Development of Kissans called on Prime Minister, Narendra Modi in his office at Parliament House New Delhi.
He briefed the Prime Minister about the agriculture scenario of the J&K State and also highlighted the problems being faced by the farmers of the State particularly those living in Kandi and border areas.
Chib informed the Prime Minister about the recent initiatives taken by the Board to meet the challenges faced by the farmers. He also informed Narendra Modi about the steps underway to create interest among the farmers in adopting the innovative methods and modern technology to double their income by the year 2022.
Chib appealed the Prime Minister to issue a special message particularly for farmers of the State which the Board will incorporate in its souvenir titled “Annadaatha” and which is being published shortly.
The Prime Minister stressed on safeguarding the interests of the farmers in the souvenir.
The PM desired that Jammu and Kashmir State Advisory Board for Development of Kissans should work out a strategy for making awareness of the programmes and initiatives of Government of India among the Kissans living in Kandi and border areas.
Prime Minister also advised Chib that the Board should identify the problems faced by Gujjar and Bakerwal community living in Kandi areas, problems faced by Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribes and a comprehensive study should be made on the problems faced by these communities with the recommendations of the Board through State Government, which will help the Union Government for possible solutions for the upliftment of these communities.
