MENDHAR, June 28: The residents of Chhatral, Kalaban and adjoining areas in Mendhar Sub Division have expressed resentment against the concerned authorities for dilapidated condition of Chhatral-Kalaban road.
Condition of the road is so bad that most of the operators have stopped plying their vehicles on it.
The road is broken at many places and has potholes posing a risk of accident.
Locals have said that the monsoon season has started and the condition of the road is getting worse which may lead to any mishap.
They informed that the road is under PMGSY and PWD is not paying any heed to make the road fit for vehicles to ply-through it even though many accidents have taken place on this road.
Locals of the area including Kafeel Ahmed, Akeel Khan, Parvaiz Hussain and others have said that the concerned department has failed to undertake even minor repairs of the road.
“Despite visiting the concerned authorities repeatedly, no action is evident on the road,” they claimed.
“We are suffering immensely due to the bad condition of the road,” a local said urging the J&K LG to look into the matter and get the road repaired through the concerned department.
