UDHAMPUR, Jan 9: Local shopkeepers of Chenani today protested against PHE, PDD, National Highway Authority and District administration in today.
A protest was organized under the leadership of former Byapar Mandal President Rajesh Gupta, who along with local shop keepers also blocked the Chenani-Domil road for around two hours.
The protestors raised slogans against the PHE, PDD, National Highway authority and District administration for their failures. “There is no regular supply of drinking water for the last many months. People of the area are suffering and their normal life is also getting affected. The matter was repeatedly brought into the notice of the concerned authorities but all in vain,” said Rajesh Gupta.
Similarly, he added, Power Development Department has also failed to ensure regular supply of electricity and the students are worst suffers as they are unable to attend their online classes for not being able to use power-backed gadgets like computers, Phone Tabs and internet etc.
He further said that because of the mess created by National Highway Authority and the Gammon India Ltd, massive traffic jam are being witnessed on Chenani-Udhampur road thus severely affecting business in Patnitop and Chenani.
Later, SDM Chenani Abdul Star, SDPO Chenani Ahmed Shafi, Tehsildar Chenani Ajay Kumar and other officer rushed to the spot. They pacified the protestors by assuring that their grievances would be taken up before the concerned authorities. Following the assurance, the protestors lifted the blockade and the vehicular traffic was restored after around two hours.
The protesters were addressed by Rajesh Rinku, Manik Gupta, Nand Kishore, Chander Shakher Verma, Maresh Sharma, Amit Abrol, Naveen Verma and Abishek Jamwal.
