JAMMU, Apr 20: Chardikala Diwas of Dera Nangali Sahib, Poonch, was celebrated with religious fervour at Gurudwara Digiana Ashram here today, where a large number of devotees and members of Sikh organisations from across Jammu and Kashmir participated and offered prayers.
The function was organised under the supervision of Mahant Manjit Singh, who highlighted the role of Dera Nangali Sahib in promoting religious values, education and communal harmony.
Religious scholars and Ragi Jathas, including Giani Bachan Singh, Bhai Ranjit Singh and Bhai Taranpreet Singh, recited Gurbani and spoke about the contributions of the Dera towards social unity.
Students of Guru Harkrishan Public School, Nanak Nagar and Indian Public School, Simbal Camp also took part in the programme.
Several speakers, including Rajinder Singh, Sewak Singh, Fateh Singh, Harpreet Singh, Nirmal Singh and Ajmeet Singh, appreciated the services of Mahant Manjit Singh in spreading Sikhism within and outside the country and for his contribution to society.
Prominent participants included Mohinder Singh, Surjit Singh, Gajan Singh, Rajinder Singh, Avtar Singh, Ravinder Singh, Paramjeet Singh, Yudhvir Singh, Charanjit Singh, Ranbir Singh, Surinder Singh Dutt, Jasbir Singh Sudan, Satvir Singh and Kultar Singh.
On the occasion, members of the organising committee presented a ‘Siropa’ to Mahant Manjit Singh as a mark of respect.
Mahant Manjit Singh thanked the devotees who had come from different districts to attend the function.
