JAMMU, Dec 10: A meeting of the Block Congress Committee was held at Arnia in which Gulchain Singh Charak, Senior Congress leader, was the chief guest. Besides, office bearers of the Congress Committee, other prominent leaders, large number of Party workers of Arnia in particular and of the block in general also participated. While addressing the meeting Mr Charak said that due to the recent heavy firing from across the border, the farmers are not able to cultivate their land near the fencing on Zero Line.
He demanded that either the Government should make necessary arrangements for the cultivation of their lands or the compensation be given to the farmers.
The Government should come up with a clear cut policy to eradicate the unemployment problems. He urged the Government to fill the posts lying vacant in various departments by quite transparent manner and special recruitment drive be started in these border areas.
Government should also ensure that proper arrangements for medical facilities including the Ambulances in the border villages especially which are at zero line are made. He urged the State Government to start Degree College at Arnia as soon as possible and Government should also ensure to introduce all the streams so as to provide education at the door step of the students of this backward area which is the main aim of the Government.
The departments of R&B, PDD & PHE should take immediate necessary steps for repairing of the damaged roads, proper management for the provision of un-interrupted electricity and de-silting of canals/distributaries etc. respectively.
Various Congress leaders of the area expressed their views during the meeting and raised the problems being faced by the public of the area in general and people living in the border area in particular. Saini, Waryam Chand, Madan Bhagat, Balwant Saini, Dr. Raghubir Singh, Kasturi Lal, Mrs Rajkumari, Mrs Janko Devi, Mrs Suraya Begum, Khazan Chand, Mrs. Sunita Devi, Mehar Singh, Karan Saini, Vijay Tagotra, Surjeet Singh & others.
