Chandigarh University announces CUCET-2020 for fresh admissions

JAMMU, Dec 9: Chandigarh University would be conducting its own national level entrance test CUCET-2020 which would be mandatory for the Engineering and MBA programs while for the other 109 programs offered by the university, the test would offer academic scholarships worth Rs 27 crores for the students.
The CUCET-2019 is slated to be conducted online (www.cucet.cuchd.in) in three phases where the registration of Phase-I will end by December 20. More than 10,000 students have already registered for the first phase while the second phase will start from January to April and final phase would be held from May to July.
This was informed Dr R S Bawa, Vice-Chancellor, Chandigarh University, while interacting with the media during a press conference at Jammu today.
“Based upon its strong & modern academic model, research initiatives and record campus placements etc, Chandigarh University Gharuan has been able to place itself into the list of elite universities and institutions of India,” said Dr Bawa, adding that established in the year 2012, Chandigarh University has become the youngest university in India to earn the honor to be ranked A+ Grade University by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC).
While replying to the questions, VC added that during the tenure of 7 years of Chandigarh University, the number of students studying from J&K has increased by 60 percent and currently about 1762 students from different part of the State are currently studying in various professional courses at university campus, who include 868 students from Jammu.
With a view to impart industry oriented academic learning, Chandigarh University has started many new age programs in the emerging areas such as Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning, Business Analytics, Big Data, Banking & Financial Engineering, Food Technology, Aerospace Engineering, Mechatronics, informed Dr Bawa.
While making yet another announcement, Dr Bawa said: “Chandigarh University has got UGC nod to run Distance Learning programs from the January 2020 session”. The admission process has already started for 10 programs which includes BBA, BCA, B Com, BA, B Sc (Travel & Tourism), MBA, MCA, M Com, MA English and MA Psychology.
Highlighting the achievements of students from J&K in the year 2019, Dr Bawa said that more than 468 students from J&K have bagged jobs during campus placements with 72 students having more than two offers in their hand.
