JAMMU, Nov 2: Chamber of Traders Federation has called for Jammu Bandh on November 6 to protest against the continuation of Toll Tax on goods, imported from outside the State.
This was announced by Neeraj Anand, president of the Chamber of Traders Federation, while addressing a press conference, here today.
Regretting the inconvenience to the consumers and commuters because of the toll Tax, Anand said that the  Trade community was  utterly dismayed   by the adamant stand of Government and bureaucracy for the last  four months over the issue notwithstanding  repeated representations  made to the  Chief Minister, Dy Chief Minister, Finance Minister, concerned officials and presidents  of political parties.
“Representation given to the Union Home Minister, Rajnath Singh on his recent visit to Jammu and his personal displeasure expressed to the BJP leaders has also made little impact on the State Government,” he added.

Maintaining that it was only CTF,  which  convinced the State Government with falling in line with the GST Bill being introduced throughout the nation,  Neeraj Anand  lamented  that the implementation was done but without abolishing  the Toll Tax. “Call it the political expediency that the bill in present shape has once again brought about mismatch of rates on account of Toll Tax as compared to the neighbouring States thus making goods costlier for the consumers of Jammu and Kashmir, something that was least expected in the uniform GST Law,” he explained.
Anand urged upon all trade organizations, civil society of Jammu, transporters, Team Jammu, Rajput Sabha, J&K High Court Bar Association, CCI, Industrial Federations and conscientious political leaders having stakes in Jammu region to support this initiative and force the Government to see the reasoning on abolition of Toll Tax and also declare much desired birthday of erstwhile Maharaja of Jammu and Kashmir   Hari Singh as a State holiday.
Other office bearers of the CTF,  who were present in the press conference, included  S Attar Singh (patron),  Parveen Gupta (Sr vice president),  Kailash Nath Nagar(vice-president),  Dinesh Gupta ( secretary general) S Balvinder Singh (treasurer),  Tushar Mahajan (Jt secretary) and  Parag Abrol (IT-Incharge).
