JAMMU, Aug 9: Ridic-uling the threatening postures being adopted by the National Conference leader, Dr. Farooq Abdullah and his likes in Kashmir, the former Union Minister, Prof. Chaman Lal Gupta said that it was unfortunate that certain elements are trying to further vitiate the atmosphere of the troubled Valley of Kashmir, which was already groaning under the communally poisoned cross border terror because of which there had been lot of bloodshed.
Commenting upon the reported threats of revolt in Kashmir, Prof. Gupta said that a Constitutional issue has been raised by some legal experts in the court but instead of putting up their views before the Court of Law, attempt is being made to arouse certain unhealthy sentiments.
As far as threats of revolt are concerned, Dr. Farooq should know that his father too had opted the path of “revolt” but after remaining in bewilderness for 22 years, had accepted the post of Chief Minister from earlier Prime Minister and served the people like nationalist.
Prof. Gupta said that all mainstream politicians should play a positive role in airing their view in the sad situation created by elements playing in foreign hands, especially when the peace loving people have already suffered a lot.
He observed that in a democracy the political power would come and go but that the basic look of nationalism and unity of the country should not change but for some ends.
