JAMMU, Jan 19: Raising a question mark on sincerity and objective of the concerned authorities while executing development works, the former Union Minister and MLA, Prof Chaman Lal Gupta has regretted that schemes of not any urgency were being given preference while the much needed construction of fly overs in the city was getting delayed.
The construction of fly over from Jewal Chowk to Talab Tillo, B C Road to Janipura and that  of other schemes has been put under the carpet but where there was not any urgency, the execution of such projects are being rushed through for the reasons best known to the concerned authorities, he said.
Prof Gupta pointed out that the Municipal Elections are being postponed repeatedly and the sanitation conditions are deteriorating but some construction works especially the sewerage scheme have been taken up in a strange manner without proper planning. This scheme has come to be curse for many people of Jammu city and no repair works are being taken up after the laying of pipes for months together, he alleged. This is causing not only problems to the common man but also the earnings of the poor shopkeepers and others are being badly affected, he added.
Prof Gupta stressed the need for opting realistic approach instead of execution of schemes in an haphazard manner and thus wasting the public money.
