SRINAGAR, Oct 21: On the occasion of Police Commem-oration Day, Chairperson, J&K Police Wives Welfare Association (PWWA), K. Vijaya Rajendra, along with a team of senior police officers, interacted with families of martyrs and heard their problems at Armed Complex, Zewan.
Interacting with members of martyrs families, Vijaya assured them that their problems would be looked into on priority and all genuine demands will be addressed. She also assured that matters related to welfare of the families would be conveyed to supervisory officers to monitor progress such issues and provide them easy access to their offices.
Chairperson said that martyrs of JKP have made supreme sacrifices at prime of their youth for safeguarding integrity of the State.
She disclosed that police organization is providing every assistance to the families of martyrs as it is the prime duty to take care of these families, they being members of Police Parivar. She said that various welfare schemes have been launched, providing succour to their next of kins, who sacrificed their present for our safe future.
She disclosed that during the current year more than Rs. 13 crore have been distributed among these families and other deceased personnel as special relief, besides Rs. 78 lakh as ex-gratia relief. She said that Rs. 13 Lakh was provided as scholarship to martyrs wards to encourage their schooling.
Mrs. Vijaya asked officers to ensure regular interactions at district level with martyrs families to seek feedback about their issues. She said that Nodal Officers should be made accountable for welfare of these families.
