J&K State Chess Championship concludes

SRINAGAR, Oct 21: The 44th State Chess Championship concluded at Sher-e-Kashmir Indoor Sports Complex, here today.
The Championship was organized by All J&K Chess Association and was sponsored by J&K State Sports Council.
Such a mega chess event was held in Kashmir for the first time after 27 years and 110 participants from 12 districts including 5 districts of Jammu participated in this Championship.
The chief guest on closing ceremony was Administration Officer J&K Sports Council, Baldev Singh, while Chief Accounts Officer Abdul Salam Kant, Shiekh Tulal, Manager Sheri -Kashmir Indoor Sports Complex and Samiyal Assistant Accounts Officer J&K State Sports Council were the guests of honour.
Prominent among others present on the occasion were Atul Kumar Gupta, president of All J&K Chess Association , general secretary Ashiq Ahmad Kolu, senior vice president, Abdul Rashid Wani and Vikas Nanda.
Khalid Amin Gojwari of Srinagar won the overall Championship, while Sumit Grover of Jammu bagged 2nd and Ajit Singh from Udhampur claimed 3rd place in senior category. In girls senior Versha Rani for Jammu Bagged first position in Senior girls. In junior girls under 19 Arushi Kotwal begged first, Bismah Afshan 2nd and 3rd went to Sana Mukhtar . In junior boys Soham Komatra bagged 1st position 2nd place went to Yawar Tariq and 3rd went to Mir Saqlain. In Junior under 17 girls Syed Mehvish bagged 1st position and in junior boys under 17 Ritish Pathaniya bagged 1st position ,Dhiren Sambal bagged 2nd spot and 3rd place went to Nikhal Gupta. Under 15 girls first prize went to Avni Gupta and under 15 boys 1st prize went to Arsh Zaffer 2nd was claimed by Mir Sahil Mustafa and 3rd went to Aasim Mustafa. Under 13 girls category 1st prize went to Mehroz Sajjad, 2nd wents to Ambika Fayaz and 3rd went to Amariayah Fayaz. Under 13 boys 1st prize went to Aakash Deep Singh, 2nd prize to Jaiveer Singh Gujral and 3rd prize went to Shiekh Ahmad Muqsit and Syed Fahad and Ritvik Nanda.
In Under-9 girls category, Anveksha Sharma bagged 1st position, while in Under-9 boys, 1st prize went to Ayush Gupta, 2nd went to Mir Nazim Mustafa and 3rd to Fayaz Alam Banday.
In Under-7 girls, Ambroz Sajjad bagged 1st position, 2nd place was bagged by Areeba Shabir and 3rd position was claimed by Falak Fayaz, while in Under-7 boys, Abdul Musavir bagged 1st position.
In this championship, Fayaz Falak and Abdul Musavir were the youngest participants.
