SRINAGAR, June 18: Dr. Hina Shafi Bhat, Chairperson, Khadi and Village Industries Commission (North Zone), Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, called on Governor N.N. Vohra at the Raj Bhavan today.
Dr. Bhat briefed Governor about the functioning of the KVIC in the State and particularly about the promotion and implementation of programs for the development of Khadi and other village industries in the rural areas.
Appreciating the work being done by Dr. Bhat, Governor observed that the success of KVIC’s efforts would have the valuable consequences of generating capability and self-reliance amongst the poor contributing towards the establishment of a strong rural community.
Governor noted that besides popularising Khadi the Commission should look at various other possibilities of generating employment and commended Dr. Bhat’s initiative to promote skill upgradation opportunities to rural residents of Pampore, nearest to their homes.
Khawaja Farooq Renzushah, Chairman Kashmir Society International also called on Governor and apprised him about the continuing activities and the contributions made by Kashmir Society International in spreading the message of love and brotherhood in the society.
Renzushah apprised Governor about the problems of the majority of newspapers in the State, which are on the verge of closure because of the existing media policies, and urged an urgent review of the problems faced by the media to enable its unhampered growth.
Appreciating Khwaja Renzushah’s zeal in promoting harmony and literary activities in the State Governor urged him to vigorously continue his endeavours.
