Chairman LC for establishment of IRP battalion, traffic police wing in Leh, Kargil

SRINAGAR, May 26: Chairman, Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Council Haji Anayat Ali had a meeting with Director General of Police, K. Rajendra Kumar here today and discussed several issues related to strengthening of policing in Ladakh region.
The Chairman suggested for establishment of IRP battalion for strengthening the security measures in the region. He said till the Government approves creation of IRP battalion, the police personnel belonging to Kargil and Leh districts should be posted in the region.
The Chairman asked the DGP for operationalization of District Jail Kargil, adding that infrastructure in this regard has already been completed by the Government.
Haji Anayat Ali also directed DGP for setting up traffic police wing at Kargil, with the posting of Deputy Superintendent of police to monitor the traffic movement on Sonamarg – Kargil road stretch. He suggested that this traffic wing should be kept under the control of Superintendent of Police, Kargil instead of SP Ganderbal.
The Chairman also directed for construction of two additional rooms for Police Chowki at Zanaskar, for which he assured release of funds out of his Constituency Development Fund.
The Chairman also asked the DGP to provide security vehicles to the newly elected MLCs of the State at the earliest.
The Director General of Police assured the Chairman that appropriate measures would be taken to strengthen and upgradepolicing in Leh and Kargil districts.
