1 missing, 6 injured on Srinagar-Leh road after snow avalanche

SRINAGAR :  One person was missing and six were injured after their vehicle was hit by an avalanche near Shaitan Nallah on the Highway, connecting the Ladakh region with the rest of Jammu and Kashmir.
Official sources said a Tata Mobile vehicle rolled down into a gorge after it was hit by an avalanche at Shaintan Nallah between Gumri and Meenmarg in Kargil district.
They said one Gulzar Ahmad Kaloo son of Abdul Rahim resident of Sumbal Sonarwari, travelling in the vehicle, is reported to be missing.
Police and Army have started the rescue operation but could not be trace the missing due to bad weather and poor  visibility.
Two others identified as Javid Ahmad Malik son of Abdul Majid and Abdul Haleem Wani son of Abdul Rehman Wani resident of Sumbal, Inderkote travelling in the same vehicle received minor injuries and were hospitalized at  Meenmarg.
They said two more were also hit by the avalanches in which driver Shabir Ahmad son of Abdul Rehman resident of Chattabal Srinagar, and driver Sameer Ahmad Khan son of Mehrajudin Khan resident of Lalmandi Srinagar and 2nd driver Sameer Ahmad Khan son of Late Ghulam Qadir resident of Batamaloo, Srinagar, and conductor Mohammad Rafiq Sheikh son of Ghulam Mohudin Sheikh resident of Bemina Hamdania Colony, Srinagar, received minor injuries.
All the injured have been shifted to Army Hospital, Gumri for treatment.
