NEW DELHI, June 16: Electricity Regulator CERC will hear the petition filed by Reliance Power for revision of tariff from its Krishnapatnam project in Andhra Pradesh by July end.
The Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (CERC) has directed Coastal Andhra Power Ltd (CAPL), a subsidiary of Reliance Power to develop the 4,000 MW ultra mega power project at Krishnapatnam in Andhra Pradesh, to list the petition in the last week of July, 2013.
“The Commission directed to list the petition in the last week of July, 2013,” as per information available on CERC website.
Reliance Power had petitioned CERC seeking revision in tariff of its 4,000 MW Krishnapatnam Project.
Earlier, this month the company submitted that subsequent to the last hearing before the Commission, the petitioner has moved an Interlocutory Application (IA) before the Delhi High Court for withdrawal of the appeal and continuation of the interim order during the proceedings of the petition before CERC.
The IA could not be taken up by the High court and is likely to be listed for hearing after vacation.
Coastal Andhra Power Ltd, had earlier filed a petition in the Delhi High Court saying that the project was unviable due to changes in the Indonesian law that made coal very costly.
PFC (Power Finance Corporation) which is the nodal agency for the ultra mega power projects in the country, has awarded four such projects of Reliance Power have bagged three — Krishnapatnam (Andhra Pradesh) and Tilaiya (Jharkhand) apart from Sasan. Tata Power is executing the fourth 4,000 MW Mundra UMPP in Gujarat.
Ultra Mega Power project involves a big-size power plant of at least 4,000 MW generation capacity. (PTI)
